Hume Health Body Pod: Advanced Technology for Better Health Insights

As they say, if you can’t measure it, you can’t manage it. So, a scale can be your ally in losing weight. Like it or not, it does tell you how it has been going. So, you can be really low tech about checking your weight.

But you could get more information, if that is your thing, with a Hume Health Body Pod. There are some competitors for sure, but the Hume Body Pod seems to be the one that is said to be most accurate relative to a DEXA body scan. They claim within 1-2% accuracy compared to DEXA. Maybe that is a bit exaggerated, but it won’t be off by a huge portion. And if you use the same device, it is likely to give you very consistent results.

How is the Hume Health Body Pod Different from Other Smart Scales?

First, the Body Pod has a hand wand as well as the scale you step on. This puts the electrical signal through your upper body as well as your lower body. Any scale that includes the electrodes for the hands is going to be more complete than the smart scale by itself. I used to have a smart scale that just had the electrodes in the feet and wasn’t impressed and didn’t replace it when it broke.

Second, the Body Pod uses multiple frequencies (like 8), which gives it more information about intracellular and extracellular water. The equations behind it’s calculations are obviously more complex, but the results seem to indicate that it is worth the trouble. Just one or two frequencies doesn’t give you the same depth of information from your body.

Here is a list of ways that the Hume Health Body Pod could help you with weight loss:

  1. The Body Pod tracks body composition for targeted weight loss. The BodyPod measures over 45 metrics, including body fat, muscle mass, visceral fat. And it tracks limb data separately. This will help you, as a diabetic individual, focus on reducing fat while preserving muscle, which is what you want. You want to lose the fat, but you want to keep all your muscle.
  2. The Body Pod provides personal health insights. The health app, along with the scale, uses AI to analyze body data and offer tailored recommendations on what you eat, how you exercise, and lifestyle choices. These personalized nudges help you make informed choices to help you optimize blood sugar control and weight loss.
  3. The Body Pod also monitors hydration levels. It tracks body water percentage, which can fluctuate significantly due to blood sugar variations. This feature helps you differentiate between water retention and actual fat gain, so you don’t get discouraged during your weight loss efforts.
  4. The app generates a weekly health report. This shows you trends in weight, fat, and muscle mass. The weekly report will help you track your progress over time, adjust your weight loss strategy, if needed, so that you keep going and keep losing weight.
  5. The Body Pod has multi-user profiles, which means that up to 24 different people can use the BodyPod. All the people in your family (probably some friends too) can track their weight and health together, creating a supportive environment where you can all help each other stay accountable, lose weight, and keep going. This helps you all get into it—great for motivation.
  6. The Body Pod integrates with other health apps, so it syncs with Apple Health, Fitbit, and Garmin (probably more), so that you can consolidate all of your data together if you want to. I don’t do that, but maybe that’s your thing. I use an Oura ring, but I don’t think it syncs with that.
  7. The Body Pod measures metabolic age and BMR. This can give you an idea of metabolic efficiency in your body and help tailor your calorie intake and exercise so that you stay in step with your metabolism and achieve sustainable weight loss.
  8. The BodyPod is great for consistent monitoring. It is easy to use and it gives you very detailed metrics and visual progress charts (so that you stay engaged with the app). As you see improvements in body composition, you stay motivated to stick with your plans because you see it’s working—and that’s the best motivation of all.

You can get discounts from Facebook ads, or from their website at https://humehealth.com/pages/hume-body-pod. They seem to run deals pretty often so that you can get a discounted price. I don’t have a code for you. It just seems like a great tool for encouraging people to really track their body composition, not just their body weight.

I’m getting one, and will let you know later what I think of it. It seems like a great tool to keep track of your progress as you try to lose weight and build strength at the same time. There is a function to use it along with a coach, so that you and your coach can see what’s going on, and you get your coach’s insights into your progress.
